Phantom time

Among some of the mysterious skills yinjas have access to is phantom time.  This is a state of heightened perception in which the construct of time breaks down.  This state can be accessed in meditation, yin yoga, and by high level martial artists.

Time flies when you’re having fun!

This phrase gives us an insight towards the depths of phantom time or time dilation.  When the conscious mind tries to intervene and solve a pressing issue; we often end up far from a solution.  With training, the conscious mind becomes an observer and the unconscious mind takes over; this is known as unconscious competence.  Focus should be paid not in accomplishing but in the experience.  In sports this can be called muscle memory.

Yinjas are well known for their skill of flying; the only reason they prefer to fly by the way is because its easy and cheap.   Not how birds fly but more like hovercrafts; like you may see someone floating in the pool; but in the air.  Phantom timing though, is a little bit more subtle because the key is listening.  All movement comes from stillness and the more one gets accustomed to it; you begin to witness potentiality and when changes occur.  This shifts our experience from reaction to response.  In yin yoga, this is where dissolving occurs because you’ve assigned your attention to a heightened perception of the internal environment.  I call this a deeper shift your attentional spotlight.  Have fun Yinjas!
